Complacent Mediocritization
Yup. Those are both real words. I looked them up on dictionary .com. Microsoft word doesn’t even recognize them. They are not a good blog post title, but I don’t care. I digress.
It is easy. You get caught in a rut. The same monotonous routine day in and day out. For some this their safety net and it is ok with them. They enjoy the lack of peaks and valleys and are partial to reduction in stress that comes with it.
I know several accounting clerks that report to their jobs on a daily basis and perform data entry for 8 hours. They do what they are told to do and are good at it. They do not do anything above and beyond their basic duties. This is what I think of as Complacent Mediocritization. Complacency with their job has ensured them they will always be mediocre. There are some that are ok with that and it is unbelievable to me. But everyone has their own goals and ambitions, I guess. Are you one of these people?
With no risk there is no reward. Truly successful individuals are never complacent with their businesses. They are constantly seeking out the newest, latest and greatest and, most importantly, are not afraid to chase it. They aren’t worried about the fact that it is 5o’clock and it is time to go home. They are driven. They are motivated. They want to succeed.
